What are entrepreneurs reading this summer?

Whether you’re going to the beach for a week, hanging out in a park on the weekend, or are home from college and finally have some free time, summer is the perfect time to get back into reading. The SCCF team recommends some great books about entrepreneurship to add to your summer reading list!

The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek

Anika, our Director of Ecosystem Building at SCCF, recommends The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek because of its dramatic change in life perspective.

“According to Sinek, we are all playing in an Infinite Game without actual rules for winning at life and work. It’s a refreshing change in perspective to remember that we’re all just a small part of the greater whole and that we’re better off competing with ourselves than other organizations.”

Educated by Tara Westover

Ashley, our Marketing Manager at SCCF, said her favorite book is Educated by Tara Westover because it is a powerful memoir that changed her appreciation for learning and education.

“Although it’s not directly about business or entrepreneurship, Tara Westover’s memoir inspired me to appreciate, and fall in love with, learning again. Her journey to developing her own education resonated with me to not take my education for granted. If you need a reminder of how fortunate we are to read, learn and apply that knowledge in the world, this is the book to read.”

Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill

Randle, our Events Coordination Intern at SCCF, was inspired by Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill because it helped him change his mindset around entrepreneurship.

“This book encapsulates the paradigm shift that entrepreneurs undergo throughout their business journey. From understanding their why, a set passion and reason for pouring energy into their work, to an entrepreneur’s ability to set goals. I found this book at a time when I wanted to increase my intellectual capacity for the world of entrepreneurship. Unseasoned, I understood the need to change my mindset and cultivate my awareness.”

The Next Generation of Women Leaders by Selena Rezvani

Joyel, our Program Administrator at SCCF, recommends The Next Generation of Women Leaders by Selena Rezvani because it will teach women leaders things they will not learn in a textbook.

“There’s a multitude of experiences (some negative, some positive) that women go through in the workplace. To know about them can be intimidating. This book provides tips and knowledge on how to navigate the good, bad, and ugly of the workplace. It ensures the next generation of women leaders are prepared for the things they wouldn’t learn in a textbook.”
